Reactive maintenance is the most expensive way to operate a commercial pool. Preventative maintenance—scheduled inspections and service performed before failure occurs—reduces downtime, extends equipment life, and keeps your facility compliant.

  • Empty skimmer and pump baskets
  • Inspect pool deck, drains, and safety equipment
  • Verify circulation system is operating at design flow rate
  • Skim surface debris and vacuum as needed

Weekly Tasks

  • Brush walls and tile line; vacuum pool floor
  • Backwash or clean filters per manufacturer pressure guidelines
  • Inspect chemical feed systems and erosion feeders
  • Test backup test kit against primary kit for accuracy
  • Lubricate pump lid O-rings and inspect for wear

Monthly and Seasonal Tasks

  • Inspect pump motor amperage and compare to nameplate
  • Check heater operation, burner condition, and venting
  • Calibrate or replace chemical controller probes
  • Inspect drain covers and anti-entrapment systems (VGB compliance)
  • Review chemical inventory and reorder before stockouts
  • Seasonal: Opening and closing procedures per manufacturer specifications
